Online physiotherapy or "telehealth"?

In response to the recent Covid-19 restrictions Carlton Physiotherapy has introduced an online "telehealth" service to allow those that wish to self isolate to access our services. If you are a current patient and wish to discuss this option please contact the clinic. For all new clients we are happy to complete an initial assessment via video (please note new clients will be expected to complete payment for their appointment before the appointment commences).

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE:

All appointments provided online will require payment in full. You will then be provided with an invoice you can submit online for reimbursement. This has been stipulated by the private health insurance companies.

Not all private health insurance companies have currently agreed to fund telehealth. We recommend you contact your provider yourself to ensure your payment will be reimbursed.

MEDICARE:

If you have a Medicare referral from you GP you can also access your EPC funding via telehealth. As we are a non bulk-billing clinic you will be required to pay your invoice in full and this is then submitted to Medicare for your rebate as is normal practice. However, if you have a health care card, or are under the age of 16 you are required to be bulk-billed**.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

  • If you haven't used Teams for an online meeting before please practice connecting to your meeting room prior to your appointment time. Even if you don't joint the meeting you will be familiar with the links and it will tell you if your camera is working. If you have any issues you can then contact the practice ahead of time. 

  • You will need to be using either Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as your internet browser.

  • It is best to use a laptop or a tablet to allow you to angle the screen to optimise the physio's view of movements etc. Make sure you are in a well lit area. You can use a phone but this makes it challenging if we are asking you to do anything away from your screen, so make sure you have a method to prop it up so you can talk hands free.

  • Please make sure devices are plugged into a power source or well charged. 

SECURITY:

We are using a platform that complies with AHRPAs code of conduct for information sharing and storage. Microsoft Teams is a secure platform with end to end encryption and any saved data is stored in the cloud on Australian based servers.

At time to time your clinician may wish to record your session, either for professional development purposes OR to record an exercise for you. This will be done only with your consent, you will be automatically provided with a copy of the recorded portion, and the system automatically tells you when recording is in action. Any videos with identifiable information will be saved to your personal account in our software, and will not be viewed by anyone outside of your treating staff.
